<p>A compound, having chelating and fluorescent properties, has the formula <IMAGE> wherein R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are the same or different and are hydrogen or linear or branched alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R<4> is either hydrogen or tertiary butyl, provided that when R<4> is hydrogen, at least two of R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are alkyl, or when R<4> is tertiary butyl at least one of R<1>, R<2> and R<3> is alkyl. A method of preparing the compound is described.</p> |
