<p>Prodn. of insecticidal candles is carried out by adding to stearin a product which, under the influence of the candle flame, releases nontoxic insecticidal substances capable of diffusing into the surrounding atmos. The additive is pref. a synergised synthetic pyrethroid or bio-allethrin. It is pref. incorporated by melting the stearin, allowing the melt to cool slowly, and adding the insecticide before the stearin has solidified. A perfume can also be added after the insecticide.</p> |
