ROAMING BASED ON UE USAGE TYPE PARAMETER

A communication system is disclosed in which a mobility management entity (MME) of a visited public land mobile network (VPLMN) receives, from a home public land mobile network (HPLMN),a UE usage type value associated with an item of user equipment (UE). The UE usage type value is in a predetermined range. When the UE usage type is a standardised usage type for the HPLMN and VPLMN, the value is from a first part of the predetermined range;and when the UE usage type is a usage type that is specific to an operator of the HPLMN the value is from a second part of the predetermined range. The MME determine show to handle the UE (e.g. select a dedicated core network for the UE / reject the UE) based on the UE usage type value.
