(c 0.5, water); solubility, soluble in water, slightly soluble in DMSO, insoluble in lower alcohols, acetone, etc.; color reactions, positive to anisaldehyde/sulfuric acid reaction, etc., negative to anisidine reaction, Sakaguchi's reaction, etc. USE:Antibacterial agent effective to gram-positive bacteria, penicillin-resistant bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, etc. PROCESS:The antibiotic substance AM-3696A can be prepared, e.g. by culturing Pseudonocardia sp AM-3696 strain (FERM-P NO.4738) aerobically in a liquid medium, adsorbing the substance from the filtrate wih activated charcoal, etc., and eluting and purifying the objective substance. |
