The piercing saw blade is held on a reciprocating ram, balanced by a moving counterweight. The gear wheel (8) has crank pins for ram and counterweight actuation and is driven by a pinion (16). The crank pins are situated on opposite sides of the gear wheel and the pins are in diametrically opposite positions. The counterweight reciprocates on a guide rod (15).
