PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode plate having great mechanical strength and good characteristics as well as being easily wound by forming a surface of a belt-shaped, porous substrate into at least one stripe having non porous thereon and extending in the longitudinal direction of the substrate and a plurality of porous faces to be filled- up with active materials and by attaching a lug to said nonporous stripe. CONSTITUTION:A rolled substrate of a desired width is subjected to a punching work to form in its inner surface, three stripes of porous surfaces extending parallelly in the longitudinal direction of the substrate and adapted for filling-up active materials 3a, 3a... therein while forming four stripes of nonporous 2a, 2a... with an equal interval, thereby to constitute a long porous substrate. And then, this is cut successively from one end thereof along each chain line c in order that the substrate is cut into electrode plates of a predetermined width T which is suitable for specific batteries. After this substrate 1 is filled with an active material 4, the lug 6 outwardly extending from each nonporous stripe 2 is connected to lead. |
