NEW MATERIAL:An esterified cyclododecanol of formula I (R is >=5C saturated alkyl group of straight or side chain). EXAMPLE:Cyclododecyl hexanoate. USE:An oily base for cosmetics, having improved stability without irritation to the shin, and capable of imparting the moderate absorption touch and improved feel to the cosmetics. Characterized by no skin irritation though of the total carbon number <=25. PROCESS:Cyclododecanol of formula II is esterified with a saturated fatty acid of straigh or side chain, preferably a 6-10C fatty acid, such as hexanoic, heptanoic, or octanoic acid, which is a liquid at 20 deg.C or below. |
