The packing is typicallt for sterilisable material and particularly for foodstuffs such as fruit and vegetables. It comprises a glass container with a metal cap fitting over the neck. The cap has a recessed plate (4) set back from the end of the neck, and containing one or more tear off grooved lines, while its edge fits closely against the inside, end and outside of the neck. a packing ring extends over part at least of the neck end and outer faces.
