<p>A kinetic energy absorber, including a shaft-like member and a hollow tubular member, both of which are subject to a kinetic load in an axial direction, coupled to each other in an axially contractible state, and a solid impact-absorbing material, filling an inner space of the tubular member for being extruded to an exterior of the tubular member through an orifice provided in the tubular member at some critical kinetic load. Furthermore, the impact-absorbing material is filled under a preload lower than the critical kinetic load.</p> |
