<p>The separation of the portions from a strand of condensed syrup fed to a lollipop prodn. unit, is effected by a shearing punch which reciprocates in a vertical plane. On each stroke a portion is delivered into a prodn. head rotating on a vertical centreline, and a stick is partly inserted into the mould in which the portion is prepressed by the shearing punch. During rotation through two further stations, the stick is pressed deeper into the syrup, and in a third station the final pressing takes place as a finishing punch enters the mould. The turret then rotates the mould to a station in which the lollipop complete with stick is ejected. Pref. the head rotates in steps of 60.deg. and finish pressing is carried out with the centrelines of the shearing and the finishing punches parallel to each other. The station in which the ejection takes place is in the same plane as that in which the shearing of the portions is carried out. Eliminates the restrictions on the shape of the lollies and the speed of their prodn. originating in dependence upon centrifugal force for the ejection of the sweets from the moulds.</p> |
