PURPOSE:To make it possible to avoid the influence of the tertiary distortion generated in the magnetic recording and reproducing system to improve S/N, by converting the sound signal as a recorded signal to a high-frequency band to record and reproduce it. CONSTITUTION:The sound signal applied through input terminal 1 is subjected to balanced modulation by balanced modulators 2 and 4 and is applied to recording amplifier 6 as a high-band conversion signal where the frequency of the sound signal is made higy by prescribed frequency fc, and this signal is recorded onto the recording medium by magnetic recording head 7. For reproducing, the high-band conversion signal from the recording medium is reproduced by reproducing magnetic head 9 and has needless components of prescribed frequency fc or less and the tertiary higher harmonic components eliminated and is supplied to balanced modulator 12 and is further subjected to balanced modulation by balanced modulator 14, and a signal converted to a low band is output to output terminal 16 as the reproduced output signal. |
