The proportionating device consists of a tubular device in two parts (1,2) on either side of a central slotted support tube (3). The tubular device is stopped at each end by sealing plugs (9) of slightly larger diameter than the tube itself. One end of the tubular device has a short sliding tube (5) which carries an annular ring (4) to support a standard coffee filter sack (6). Coffee poured into the sack is counterbalanced in weight by a solid cylindrical mass (7) which slides in the tube, with a small upwardly extending pin (8) serving as a movement control device and as a scale indicator, the scale being marked against alongside a small slot running longitudinally along the upper portion of the tube.
