Hydantoin-deriv.-modified polyesters produce fibers with better dyeability, thermooxidative stability, light stability and resistance to the sunlight than those produced from polyalkylene glycol-modified polyesters. Thus, di-Me terephthalate 194, butanediol 270, hydantoin deriv. (I; X + y = 10), Mn(OAc)2.H20 0.10, tetra-Bu orthotitanate 0.17, and antioxidant 0.03g were heated at 170-80≦̸C while distg. MeOH & polycondensed at 248≦̸/1 torr. The resulting polymer was meltspun through a 35-hole nozzle into a 700 denier fiber bundle stretched and texturized.
