PURPOSE:To obtain high quality polished rice, preventing the breaking of the rice grain, by moistening polished rice for a specific time to a specific water content. CONSTITUTION:Polished rice is lifted with an elevator 12 and charged into a grain tank 1 to form a grain layer 7 on the moistening chambers 6A-6D. The grain layer 7 acts as a cover to prevent the leak of air from the moistening chambers. The duct B is closed and the duct A is opened by operating the valve 13 of the air-inlet duct 14, and at the same time, the outlet duct C is closed and the duct C is opened by operating the valve 17 of the air-outlet duct 19. Air is moistened in a moistening device 16, and sent through an air-supplying chamber 3 and a plurality of air- permeable porous walls 2 to the chambers 6A-6D, and exhausted through the air- exhausting chamber 4 and the outlet duct D. After a proper time, the valves 13 and 17 are reversed to moisten the polished rice from the reverse side. The rice grain is recycled, by turning the discharge valves 9, through a grain flow tank 10, a screw conveyor 11, the elevator 12 ans a distributor 21. The polished rice is moistened with <=0.3wt% of water by carrying out the moistening operation for 60min. |
