A drum-type washing machine is additionally equipped for tumble-drying the load in that the ends of the drum are closed by perforated plates having central recesses through which warm air is blown through the load from both ends simultaneously. This increases the efficiency of drying, despite the relatively small drum volume, and decreases the energy consumption.
