The rotary compressor, pump, or internal-combustion engine, has a stator with a cylindrical chamber containing an eccentric rotor tangental to the chamber. It has a retractable piston in contact with the rotor. The piston is triangular (4), and pivots at two of its corners, on the rotor (3) and on a rotary component coaxial to the chamber. This component can be a crankshaft (22), with a crankpin on which the piston pivots, or a ring or flywheel with a crankpin.
