Wind direction indicator operating from anemometer - has rotating angular position detector and fixed position sensor with transmitter providing pulse train proportional to wind speed

The angular position sensor delivers a train of pulses which varies with wind speed but which have a particular number per revolution of an anemometer rotor to provide precise information without the wear of moving parts. The wind direction w.r.t. a point of origin is determined by an anemometer vane. The vane is mounted on a shaft which rotates an angle sensor w.r.t. a fixed sensor giving the point of origin. An anemometer windmill drives a shaft so that a transmitter can generate signals in both sensors. A disc assembly on this shaft enables a third sensor to provide a time base signal. The angle and speed information is provided by counting the pulses from the sensors.
