Loudspeaker enclosure with straight cavities - which are situated in walls communicating through parallel grooves with interior of enclosure

A loudspeaker cabinet has one or more walls (1) provided with rectilinear cavities (11) pref. of circular cross-section running the length of the wall. The cavities serve as Helmholtz resonators and open into the cabinet through respective grooves (12) which upon tangentially or radially of the cavities. The effect is to lower the cabinet cut-off frequency and enhance the bass frequency reproduction. A glass-fibre or plastics absorbent layer may be provided on the cabinet inner walls to equalise the response curve of the cabinet.
