A process for preparing polyoxymethylene having an improved molten fluidity and an excellent workability by polymerizing formaldehyde using an anionic polymerization catalyst, which comprises using as a molecular weight modifier a polyhydric alcohol containing at least three alcoholic hydroxy groups to attain a desired molecular weight.
