PURPOSE:To feed papers of different sizes securely by providing a paper feeding device with an auxiliary pressure member for giving a rocking force to a tray which can be changed-over from the state of giving a rocking force to the state of giving no rocking force depending on the size of paper. CONSTITUTION:Papers of small size are loaded on a tray 13 after a movable guide 12 and an end guide 22 are moved to a predetermined position. At this time a cam 25 interferes auxiliary pressure means 26 so as to rock the tray 13 downwards on the pivot, which causes the pressure force of the pressure means 26 to relatively decrease so that normal force will get within the allowable limit. In the case of placing papers of large size on the tray 13, since the end guide 22 is positioned in the direction opposite to paper feeding, the tray 13 is rocked upwards only by pressure means 18 so that normal force will get within the allowable limit, whereby no multifeeding occurs. |
