The lock retains a telescopic rod at the required length, using diametrically opposed sprung pins through aligned holes in the interhoused ends of the tubular telescopic sections. The outer tube has two diametrically opposed axial lines of pin holes with a stagger of half the axial hole interval. The inner tube has two diametrically opposed holes with the same stagger. Internal 'U' shaped springs locate pins which retract under thumb pressure and pass through aligned holes to lock the sections in the desired axial relationship. One section may be rotated half a turn to half the increment of adjustment.
