To replace the expensive wood or corrugated cardboard boxes known hitherto for packaging and transport purposes with containers made from less expensive material, in particular from a material which is available in any case as a residue, it is proposed to produce containers, container mouldings or other similar articles by mixing straw or other fibrous raw material with a heat-curable binder. The straw/binder mixture is pressurised and made to cure under the effect of heat to mould the container, the container moulding or another similar article. <IMAGE>
