<p>The flexible drive shaft is assembled from three items. The inner drive cable which may vary in diameter from a thin piano wire up to a multi-strand cable. The outer sheath is a plastic tube with a bore to match the cable. The end coupling are of two types. A compression fitting, i.e. a nut and an olive, for use under low differential tractive loads and an expanded and nut fitting for higher differential loads. The separate components are stored in a range of sizes and assembled in accordance with the torque and length required.</p> |
