<p>The ball joint has a spherical head in two halves (20) and (21) rotating in a housing (3) with an end closure (4) having a spherical inner surface (5). A clearance (14) exists between the upper hemisphere (21) and the housing. The clearance in the lower half is filled with a low friction lining (19). The upper clearance (14) is filled with ball bearings having a diameter in the order of several hundredths of a millimetre. A screwed plug (11) exerts a pressure on a flexible element (12), which in turn pressurises the balls, similar to a hydrostatic fluid, automatically compensating for wear in the joint.</p> |
