A process for sulphur removal from exhaust gases is specified, in which an absorption liquid having a content of 1 to 40 % of CaCl2 serves for absorptive removal of sulphur oxide components from the exhaust gas and is recycled, some of the absorption liquid being taken off according to the invention from the recycling pipe into a heating vessel if the CaCl2 concentration exceeds a predetermined range. In the heating vessel, the absorption liquid is heated and concentrated by injection of a hot gas, whereupon the concentrated liquid is cooled to precipitate out CaCl2 and to separate it off in the form of the dihydrate. <IMAGE>
