<p>PURPOSE:To alter the size of letters without the needs for the exchange of thermal head and the discontinuation of printing by providing a divider consisting of a servo motor and an encoder and capable of dividing timing pulse and plural dot rows having different dot intervals. CONSTITUTION:Of pulse signals from an encoder 9, divided by a divider 10, one signal is selected from a selection signal determining the size of letters and becomes a printing timing signal. In this case, when larger letters are printed, lower frequency is selected. In a thermal head 11, dot rows D1-Dn of different intervals in the vertical direction are provided at intervals corresponding to the size of letters, selection lines in which selection signal is to be put are connected, and any dot row is selected. Thus, even in case where letters of different sizes are printed, the need to excange thermal heads is eliminated, the discontinuation of printing is taken place, and therefore, controlling method can be simplified.</p> |
