PURPOSE:To simplify the assembling and to prevent the cross-talk discharge, by adhering a spacer having a flange section to the open end for inserting a U-shaped electrode then pressing it through a stopper board and fixing to a stem. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 5 having a flange section 5 composed of such as ceramic is adhered to one open end 3 of two U-shaped tubes 1 having the inner wall coated with phosphor subsistance 2. Then it is inserted into the notch section 9 of a stopper board 8 and placed over the electrode 13 on a stem 11 to press the flange section 5 of the spacer 6 against the flange section 5, while the stopper board 8 is secured to the stem 11 through a supporting rod 14 to secure between the U-shaped tube 1 and the stem 11. Thereafter an outer tube 16 is put on and sealed to the stem 11 to form a discharge lamp. Since the U-shaped tube 1 isn't required to be welded to the stem 11, the assembling is simplified while the oxidation of the electrode 13 is prevented to prevent the occurrence of the cross-talk discharge. |
