According to the invention, a rope stop device is produced for locking cords or ropes 7 which are intended to hold together or support moving parts, especially forming part of a loom. The device is constituted by a member 13 which can be partially introduced into a hole 12 made in, for example, a batten 11, through which member 13 a cord 7 is arranged to extend and to which member the cord 7 can be fixed in a continuously adjustable manner.
