A process for the treatment of inert residual gases containing ethylene or another unsaturated hydrocarbon, is characterised by the chlorination, in the vapour phase, of the residual gas with chlorine in the presence of a catalyst based on alumina and/or active charcoal at a temperature of between 0 and 150 DEG C and preferably between 15 and 80 DEG C. It is particularly useful in the treatment of oxychlorination of gas. |
