<p>Solar energy trap is made from a mat of non-woven fibres by impermeable coatings or covers and having passages free from fibres along two opposing borders via which a heat transfer fluid can be circulated across the mat. The semi-rigid form of the panel is simple to construct and install, acts as a waterproof cover for the roof or terrace upon which it is installed. Pref. the passages are formed by compressing two border zones of the mat and reforming the thin borders to form an integral closed gutter alongside the still bulky core of the mat. Traps are specifically made from matted and pricked fibres of polyethylene or polyester and/or the surface of the mat body is made impermeable by superficial impregnation with an aq. emulsion of high mol. wt. acrylic polymer. Pref. adjacent panels are linked by bridges of waterproof film and hoses to connect the passages in a serpentine sequence. Panels are opt. supported on ancillary layers of mat and additional waterproof membranes.</p> |
