In a method and a device for scanning an object, such as, for example, a photosensitive material, by a light beam or light beams for use in an image reproducing device such as, for example, a laser reproduction device for producing plates, the object arranged on a face of a holder with a cylindrical curvature is scanned by a light beam which is incident on a rotating mirror, which is arranged on an axis of rotation parallel to the central axis of the holder, from a direction perpendicular thereto and is reflected by the rotating mirror onto the object in the directions of the curvature of the holder and of the central axis of the holder due to the fact that the rotating mirror is rotated about the axis of rotation and the light beam is moved relative to the holder in the direction of the axis of rotation of the rotating mirror in conjunction with the use of a light beam instrument.
