Handle for carrying a stretcher

The invention relates to a handle 2 for carrying a stretcher 1. The handle is mounted on the stretcher for free pivoting in a vertical plane parallel to the longitudinal direction of the stretcher and about a horizontal pivot axis 7 at right angles to the longitudinal direction. The handle comprises a grip part 3 whose normal plane extends substantially through the pivot axis 7, as a result of which the grip part 3 assumes a substantially horizontal position irrespective of the inclination of the surface on which the stretcher is being carried.
