<p>The insulated boiler enclosure has a water jacket on all four sides and below. The top of the combustion chamber consists of tubes (18) supported on upper and lower tube plates (19) to form an additional water jacket, through which the exhaust gases pass before entering the chimney (11). Each tube is fitted with a deflector plate (21) supported on a cross beam (24). The plates impart a turbulence to the gases and increase the rate of heat exchange with the surrounding water, so that tars and soot are precipitated.</p> |
