<p>Two spools are used to feed wire and insulation sleeving to pulling devices. Both wire and sleeving threads pass through measuring units. The pulling devices consist of a series of rollers and guides which feed the wire and sleeving in a straight line. The sleeve pulling section can be moved laterally so that it is aligned with, and underneath, the wire pulling section. With the wire and sleeving aligned, the wire is introduced into the sleeving for the required distance. The wire is cut above the level of the sleeve end by a mechanism beneath the wire puller. The wire ends are then bent over the sleeve end to prevent them being pulled out. The sleeve pulling device is then re-positioned in its original position and this the sleeve plus wire fed through onto a take-up spool. The sleeving is cut to the desired length by a pair of blades, leaving a length of exposed wire, which is afterwards cut separately.</p> |
