PURPOSE:To make it possible to efficiently convert energy by rotatably supporting an auxiliary vane having a length shorter than that of stationary guide vanes in the vicinity of the periphery of a vane lattice between each adjacent two of the stationary vanes so that surging phenomenon may be avoided. CONSTITUTION:The stream which is closer to a stationary vane 5b than to an auxiliary vane 18 generates therein expansion waves 16 and strong shock waves 23 so that a separated stream area 24 is generated. However, the strong shock waves 23 are not generated all over the region between the stationary vanes 5a, 5b but in the limited narrow area along a throat portion 11c which is provided by the provision of the auxiliary vane 18. Thus, the generated stream separation area 24 is limited to a narrow region without the generation of surging phenomenon remarkably deteriorating the performance of the centrifugal compressor, thereby the conversion of energy is effectively carried out. |
