<p>The connector consists of a housing made of insulating material inside which a metal cable fixing harness is held. A tapering hole in the front face admits the insulated cable which penetrates until its end butts against the inner housing wall. The harness is made of a folded metal sheet. It has a concave trough which seats the cable. Two pais of square-edged notches are punched in its sloping sides. An externally accessible screw threads into the outer housing and the inner harness. Fixed to the end of the screwshaft is a stirruP and a metal strip which extends through a hole in the housing to an external electrical terminal. When the screw is tightened, the stirruP is pushed down onto the cable insulation, its square edges cutting through the upper layers to the inner conductor. The square edged bosses on the lower, concve side of the harness rupture the under side of the insultion. (9Pp).</p> |
