PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fiber for a fiber-reinforced resin, the fiber facilitating impregnation of a matrix resin into between the fibers.SOLUTION: The method for producing a fiber for a fiber-reinforced resin is provided in which impregnation properties of a matrix resin is increased by subjecting a carbon fiber with a sizing agent adhered thereto to at least one treatment selected from the group consisting of irradiation with ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 400 nm or shorter and a plasma treatment. As a result, a carbon fiber can be provided which has high wettability with the matrix resin and facilitates impregnation of the matrix resin into between the fibers. Irradiation with ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 400 nm or shorter is preferably irradiation from an excimer lamp or irradiation from a low pressure mercury lamp.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
