A fibre yarn is produced from a thread of continuous filaments, in that continuous filaments are shaped in an airjet-texturing device to form snarls, loops, curves and the like, of which at least some snarls and the like projecting above the yarn core are opened. This is carried out in that the airjet-textured yarn is guided in at least one turn by means of a roller or a plurality of rollers mounted rotatably in succession in the yarn run, in such a way that the yarn strand fed to the rollers bridges the yarn strand running off from the rollers, at least in its edge region, and thereby clamps on the roller the snarls, loops and the like of the running-off yarn which project above the yarn core.
