The invention relates to a two-substance or multi-substance compression heat pump or refrigerating machine with a solution circuit which has as working medium a mixture of two or more substances, e.g. an ammonia/water mixture. The concept of the invention is to increase the performance number of the respective machine. The solution to this aim consists in using the technically usable heat of the rich solution completely or partially for the further degassing of the lean solution, the further degassed component or components of the mixture preferably being resorbed by the rich solution and in particular in such a manner that the absorption heat thus released is required for the further degassing of the lean solution. Herewith, the maximum resorber temperature sought can be achieved at a lower pressure than without this measure and the refrigerating capacity of the machine can be increased as by these means the further cooling of the rich solution is made possible.
