A stirring installation for a liq. comprises a reservoir with a supply and return, (some of which is pumped back into the reservoirs); the supply being a vertical tube, immersed as deep as possible in the water, with one or more suction holes, (for air or another gas), in its wall at a determined distance above the surface of the liq. in the reservoir. The presence of kinetic energy from the returning liq. is used to suck-in air. The air is supplied to the vertical tube above the liq level, so that over the whole tube, an intensive mixing of air and liq. takes place. The installation is esp. for use in the treatment of sewage water. Advantages over conventional methods are that there is no mechanically-driven stirrer required; thus energy is saved, no noise is made, and no accurate temp. sepn. is required.
|
