This electric thermometer has a probe (1) containing a heat-sensitive resistor. The latter is connected to a circuit inside the casing (2) which produces a digital temp. read-out on an indicator (4), when the ON switch (3) is operated. The probe ends in a swivel joint, which has a central contact pin and brush connection. The probe can thus be pivoted back into a storage groove (5) in the contour (6) of the casing. This folding probe enables the instrument to be carried around in a pocket.
