PURPOSE:To increase the performance of a lead storage battery by suppressing the corrosion of an expanded grid by immersing the grid in a vinylidene chloride dispersion, applying an active material paste to the grid without drying the grid, and drying the grid coated with the paste. CONSTITUTION:A hoop-like expanded grid 1 is continuously sent through a treatment solution container 10 which is filled with a vinylidene chloride dispersion, and an active material paste 2 is applied to the grid 1 by introducing the grid 1 into an application equipment 20 successively without drying the grid 1. Next, the grid 1 is sent through a dryer 30 in order to subject the grid 1 to drying treatment, and cut into a given dimension to obtain an electrode plate. By the means mentioned above, vinylidene chloride particles are fused together at the same time when water is removed, and the surface of the grid 1 uncoated with the active material powder is coated with a thin vinylidene chloride layer. Consequently, the corrosion resistant performance of the grid 1 can be improved, and the cycle characteristic of a lead storage battery can be greatly enhanced. |
