PURPOSE:To obtain a light reflection material layer which has high water resistance and adhesive strength, is uniform and has goood surface flatness by using the mixed paste of the light reflecting material in a specific ratio range of a light reflecting material, an org. solvent and an org. binder for coating the surface of scintillators. CONSTITUTION:Paste 2 of a light reflecting material mixed with 55-73wt% a light reflecting material such as barium sulfate, magnesium oxide or the like, 25-40wt% an org. solvent such as terpineol or the like and 2-5wt% an org. binder such as ethyl cellulose is prepd. The paste 2 is coated on the surface of a solid scintillator 4 by fixing a stainless screen 1 of 100 meshes at intervals by about 0.7mm. from said surface and using a spatula 3 made of rigid rubber. After the coating the scintillator 4 is heated and dried for about 30min at 90 deg.C and is then overcoated with the paste 2 thereon in the same manner, whereby the light reflection layer which has a required thickness (100mu), about + or -0.1 deg. parallel accuracy of the thickness, good surface flatness and water resistance and high adhesive strength is obtained. |
