PURPOSE:To recover heat of reaction while reducing loss of sensible heat, by charging a hydrogenated metal in a hollow space formed at the central portion of a donut- shaped heat pipe so that hydrogen is passed through the hydrogenated metal, and connecting a heat accumulating section and a hydrogen storing section to each other via a conduit. CONSTITUTION:Opposite open ends of an outer pipe 1 and an inner pipe 2 of a donut- shaped heat pipe are closed by end plates 4a, 4b, and a hydrogen feeding and discharging pipe 8 is connected to the end plate 4a. A hydrogenated metal 6 is charged in a hollow space 5, and hydrogen is passed through a porous pipe 9 promptly. With such an arrangement, hydrogen gas, generated by heating a heat exchanging section by a heat medium carried to a heat exchanger and dehydrogenating the hydrogenated metal through heating of the same, is carried to a hydrogen storing section, so that hydrogen is stored as hydrogenated metal. On the other hand, in utilizing the apparatus for accumulating heat, the hydrogenated metal is dehydrogenated by heating the same by a low-temperature heat medium in which waste heat is collected, and heat, obtained by reacting the hydrogen produced through dehydrogenation of the hydrogenated metal with a metal at an electricity accumulating section, is transmitted to the heat medium. |
