摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium excellent in light-fastness and preservation stability in which recording and reproduction can be carried out using a laser light in short wavelength region by adding one kind of formazan metal chelate compound composed of specified formazan based compound and metal salt into the recording medium. SOLUTION: A recording layer 2 is provided directly or through an underlying layer 3 on a substrate 1 and a reflective layer 6 and a protective layer 4 are further provided thereon, as required. The recording layer contains at least one kind of formazan based compound Fn shown by a formula (where, X represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, R<1> , R<2> represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, an amino group, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a carboxy group, or the like, independently. R<1> , R<2> may be bonded to form a ring) and a formazan metal chelate compound composed of a metal salt MY represented by a formula (where, M represents a group 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 metal atom or an oxide or halide thereof, and Y represents an anion. R<1> , R<2> may be bonded to form a ring).
