The invention demonstrates a method and a device for turning a heavy object, preferably an upside-down moulded concrete element 20, around its longitudinal axis. During the procedure according to the invention, the element is given a primarily horizontal motion A perpendicular to its longitudinal axis, after which it is brought into contact with a fixed obstacle in the pathway of the motion at at least one point underneath its centre of gravity Tp. At essentially the same instant, the element is allowed to fall freely down to a lower level, performing an essentially semicircular rotation around its longitudinal axis. The device according to the invention comprises a transporter 2 such as a chain transporter 2, 3 that is arranged to give the element an essentially horizontal motion A perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. At the end of the horizontal pathway of the transporter at least one stop means is arranged 10, 11 in such a manner that the element makes contact with the same at at least one point underneath its centre of gravity Tp.
