PURPOSE:To ensure the sepaeation among the categories which have many deformations and similar forms to each other, by registering totally the redundant parts within a subcategory into a dictionary memory and therefore delivering the category names having different weight values from each other out of a single subcategory. CONSTITUTION:The subcategories obtained with the combined logic of features are collected and stoed in a dictionary memory 5, and the code number showing the feature name is stored in each address in the memory 5. At the same time, the name and the weight value of the category are stored in the final address of the category. On the other hand, an input character pattern is stoed in a character pattern memory 2, and the feature group which describes the forms of charactes is extracted by a feature group producing circuit 3 out of the character pattern storedin the memory 2. This feature group is stored in a table memory 4. The memory 5 is scanned from its head through end by a character deciding circuit 6 and then compared with the input character pattern stored in thenmemory 4. If the result of comparison satisfies the subcategories of plural categories, the only category name is selected by the level of the weight value. |
