A self-adjusting insole or a sole for footwear comprises one or more closed tubes that are made of flexible material and that are filled with soft plastic material, foamed material, or granular or powderlike material. The largest tube begins at a distance of 2/3 H +/- 5 per cent from the heel and is placed slanted in relation to the axis of the foot, since its length is equal to 4/9 H +/- 10 per cent, where H is the length dimension of the sole lining, which can be inserted into the shoe. The insole can be built into the shoe, or it can be made in such a way that it can be removed from the shoe. <IMAGE>
