PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance water-absorbing property and abrasion resistance, by using a polyvinyl alcohol fiber or a doubled and twisted yarn thereof with rayon as a pile yarn for constituting a roll cover. CONSTITUTION:In a roll cover knitted in a circular shape and provided with piles (which may be then shorn) on one side thereof, a polyvinyl alcohol fiber or a doubled and twisted yarn thereof with rayon is used as the upper yarn. A polyvinyl alcohol fiber or a acetalized fiber is preferred because of its favorable hydrophilic property. When the polyvinyl alcohol fiber is doubled and twisted with rayon, polynosic rayon or hollow rayon is used. A yarn capable of shrinking by aborbing water and thereby functioning to fasten the upper yarn is preferably used as the lower yarn, since it prevents the upper yarn from being drawn out by friction or tension in use, in the case where the loops of the upper yarn are shorn. |
