Theophyllinylalkyloxadiazoles of the formula I <IMAGE> where A is alkylene or -CH2-CHOH-CH2-, and R1 is alkyl, halogenoalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, vinyl, 2- ethoxyethyl, carbonylalkyl or aminoalkyl of the formula -(CH2)n-CH-NR2R3 where n is 0-3, R is H or CH3, R2 and R3 are H or alkyl, or NR2R3 is a 5-6-membered ring which optionally additionally contains a O atom or an NH or N(CH3) group, or R1 is R4R5-substituted phenyl, where R4 and R5 are H, CH3O, C2H5O, CH3 or NH2, or R1 is OH or benzyl, 2,2- diphenylethyl or theophyllin-7-ylmethyl, and addition salts thereof, are prepared in a number of processes. The compounds of the formula I are pharmacologically active, in particular as cough-alleviating agents which do not act through the central nervous system, such that they can also be used by asthmatics. |
